At Neighbor Helping Neighbor Food Bank, we understand the unique challenges faced by seniors in our community, especially when it comes to accessing nutritious food. That’s why we offer special services tailored to meet the needs of our senior population.
CSFP Senior Box and Eldershare Box:
Seniors who meet the income guidelines outlined by the state (view income guidelines/application) have the opportunity to receive either a CSFP Senior Box with Cheese or an Eldershare box. To participate, seniors must fill out and sign a form, which we submit to the state for approval. Once approved, seniors can pick up their box when they shop at the food bank. If unable to visit the food bank, seniors can request home delivery.
Home Delivery (Serving Seniors Program):
Thanks to a grant from the Perry County, we established the Serving Seniors program in January 2023. This initiative allows us to provide home delivery to seniors who are unable to visit the food bank or designate a proxy shopper. Our dedicated volunteers deliver food boxes once a month, ensuring that seniors receive the support they need.
Additional Support:
In addition to the CSFP/Eldershare box, seniors receiving home delivery may also receive a produce box and occasional extra items, depending on availability. We kindly ask that if you no longer require home delivery, you inform us so we can allocate resources effectively.
While home delivery is a convenient option, we recommend visiting the food bank or assigning a proxy shopper for a wider selection of items. Your well-being is important to us, and we’re committed to ensuring that all seniors in our community have access to nutritious food with dignity and respect.
